1. Choose a specific customer moment
Start with an actual opportunity: a complementary item after a purchase, a replenishment reminder at the appropriate time, or a relevant cart recommendation. Define the customer segment and trigger. Avoid choosing a tool before you know the behavior you want to improve.
2. Decide whether you need messaging or merchandising
Klaviyo AI advertises campaign creation, customer journeys, and segmentation within its marketing platform. Rebuy advertises AI recommendations, Smart Cart offers, and bundles in a Shopify storefront. These serve different parts of the journey. Shopify Sidekick can assist with admin questions and supported tasks; it is not a substitute for a configured customer marketing system.
3. Set the offer, exclusions, and permissions
Use approved pricing and product availability. For messages, confirm consent, suppression after purchase, unsubscribe handling, frequency, and supported regions. For recommendations, check inventory and the combined margin of any bundle or discount. Review the setup in a preview or limited pilot before expanding.
4. Write a measurement plan
Record a baseline and an observation window. Track repeat orders, contribution after discounts and returns, software cost, and relevant customer signals. Use a holdout or comparable cohort where feasible. Attributed revenue is a platform measurement and does not by itself prove incremental sales.
5. Decide from the pilot evidence
Review both benefit and cost, including setup and ongoing staff work. Check for excessive messages, poor recommendations, or discount dependence. Expand only if the evidence supports the customer experience and economics. The task template is a planning aid and does not send campaigns.
